* HW: Study the definitions of the following terms for a quiz tomorrow, Tues:
-imagery,
-narrative techniques,
-resources of language,
-rhetorical techniques,
-strategy (or rhetorical strategy), and
-style.
I will give you the term and you'll give the definition. You only need to give the first sentence, although you should have read the whole discussion to help you remember the definition. Word for word is good, but not necessary if you have all the elements.
* HW: Present one of the words in front of the class tomorrow. Use a visual aid to help students remember the meaning.

• Write notes/outline of your speech on a sheet of paper. Topics will be either your persuasive essay topic or a book you want to recommend or not recommend. Use the thesis builder sheet to write a thesis and organize your outline if you do a book.
• Let me check it to make sure you are writing only short notes, not sentences.
• Then copy notes/outline onto the 4x6 note card I give you.
• Hand in your sheet of notes for 10 pts (and your note card if you don't want to take it home to practice with).
• Speeches will last from 2 to 4 minutes and begin in our next class. Volunteers go first, then you'll go alphabetically.
