PERIOD 2
1. AR reading and new log Quiz deadline Friday, Feb 1
2. Begin Shakespeare's Macbeth: Pg72 in Gold book: "Writing Connection"
Write the 2 sentences about the character described. Switch papers with a partner. Under his/her 2 sentences, write a minimum of 35 words in a paragraph expanding or elaborating on the idea in one of the sentences. Put your name on the paper and hand it in.
PERIOD 5

2. Two groups discuss poems 171 and 172 from Sound and Sense
3. Get Jane Eyre books
HW: Read chapters 1, 2, 3 (appox 20 pp a day will be assigned every school day)
HW: Find 3 vocabulary words anywhere in the three chapters and do the following:
(1) Write the page number and the sentence from the book in which the word appears.
(2) Write the definition that fits the context of the sentence in which it was found.
(3) Write your own sentence using the word, clearly implying the meaning. Example: When the child read the MORAL of the story, he learned that patience has its rewards.
HW: For each chapter, write a question that isn't clearly answered in the text. "Why" questions are usually good.
